Carol's first job was as a swimming instructor, lasting until she finished high school and moved onto College. At college she took Therapeutic Recreation, which is working with people who are challenged in some way. Her main focus at this time became young teenagers with a variety of problems be it antisocial, physical, or learning. This is when her interest began in the development of the Effective and Efficient Reading Program, which was developed slowly through her years of working with young adults. It seemed that the school system at the younger grade levels did not produce  students with enough solid reading skills to advance with ease through the higher levels of education. Even students at college had basic reading problems to deal with, and none of the students seemed to be able to get through the stack of reading material set out by the instructors. At school there is not a lot of point to reading quickly without remembering and learning the material. This reading program addresses the problems of reading for comprehension as well as speed.
     Carol is the Canadian responsible for the tours' operations as a whole. She has been camping all her life, working with children and young adults for over 40 years. In addition to hiking, biking and camping she has a back ground in business, first aid and safety.
